Tide mills are a fascinating topic! I practice energy law so I'm working with modern-day tidal power by day, but with my twin loves of history and adventure, I enjoy exploring the coast hunting for old tide mill sites. There were once dozens within a ten-mile radius of my house, so I have plenty of great places to paddle nearby.

Readers of this forum might enjoy my blog, where I write about (and take pictures of) historic tide mill sites around the coast:

Keep me in the loop on any future activity put on by the Tide Mill Institute!

Subject:nice site...reference site on micro hydro

Hi! nice clean site...I'll be presenting on Maine's ocean energy 'activity' at the confer. I'll cover some 'restorations' of old tidal ponds and the difficulty of obtaining a 'pilot permit' from FERC.

I'm also working with local water districts on restoring hydro plants.
